What Now?

Picture
It seems years (well, it was, really) since Lyn began her fourth book. The good news is that the final sentence has been locked in, the story finished. Now to the editing and preparations for publishing.
She had hoped for a pre-Christmas release with a launch but, with the advent of COVID-19 and the resultant restrictions, it looks unlikely to happen this year.
Lyn’s book, ‘Beneath My Skin’ tells June Cooper’s story over a 20-week period. Born in country Victoria, June migrated to the city of Melbourne to settle into a daily routine that veered nowhere from the same job, the same dress, the same cardigan, the same train journey every weekday. For forty years. Then comes April, a 30-something weirdo who gives June a makeover and they become friends recognising mutual childhoods that defy logic.
June wants to know the truth about her family. April wants to help her. At the same time, June discovers a new sexual desire in herself that she hadn’t known existed.

While I Can Still Remember

Lone Pine, a 650 year-old Norfolk Island pine, stands on a limestone cliff on Norfolk Island. At the base of its trunk a sapling – Piali – clings to the cliff as fierce storms threaten to destroy it.

The island is waiting for Piali to grow strong enough to take over from Lone Pine, so the sapling’s survival is vital. The old tree has been the receptacle of the island’s stories and these must be passed on to its successor so that the species will remain intact. But Lone Pine’s memory is fading and time is running out.

Fugue

Fugue is a love story that takes the reader through the nightmares and emotions of a young woman who seems to have everything but who, in fact, has nothing.

Her childhood was one of rejection and loneliness, and walls that allow nothing or no one else in surround her adult life. Her icy façade is impenetrable until she meets a musician who disturbs the cobwebs of the past. Finally she is forced to face her demons and allow love to soften her pain.
